Holly Holm Scheduled Title Defense Before Rousey Rematch
Holly Holm’s first match after becoming the new bantamweight weight champion will not be against the ex-champ Ronda Rousey. The two fighters squared off in the octagon on Nov. 14. In this fight, Holm handed Rousey her very first loss in the UFC. Following this fight there was a great deal of discussion about a rematch between the two fighters. The fight was speculated to be in the month of July at UFC 200.
Online betting and sports books were crushed by Ronda’s loss in the title fight. UFC online betting occurs on a popular site called draftkings.com. Holly Holm was not predicted to win the fight, so when she came out on top her victory shook the books of UFC fans everywhere. There were even reports of some casinos being forced to close there doors momentarily because of payouts from this major upset. Holm shocked the world with her second round knockout against Rousey.
The reason for the fight in between Holm and Rousey, is that the world class boxer Holly Holm has displayed the hunger to fight again sooner. The next fighter in line for a chance at Holly Holm would be the currently second ranked in the women’s bantamweight division, Miesha Tate.
Tate, who is currently 4-0 in her last four fights, has previously made a statement as to why she deserves a shot at the new champion Holly Holm. The UFC has already set an event on March 5. This could possibly be an opportunity for Tate to give it her all against the current champion, Holly Holm. Arguably UFC betting online could greatly benefit from there being a new champion. This adds a fresh and new variable to the game for people betting on the UFC. There are multiple cases in which a positive result may occur. Anywhere from casinos in Las Vegas, to people in their homes betting on the UFC online, they all will have two fresh faces to bet on. This can only lead to positive gains for the UFC.
Many people are agreeing with the call for Holm to have a match before versing Rousey for the second time. Being the current champ of the division, Holm does not want to wait eight months before she has the opportunity to compete again. She wants to prove that she is fit to hold the championship belt. Defending her title before once again facing Ronda only seems fit. Another reason for a possible fight for Holm in March is that UFC fans nor the organization wants to see the women’s bantamweight division postponed until July. A match for Holm would be good for all three parties, Holly Holm herself, the UFC organization, and also the fans of UFC.
