The 2015 US Open matched the hype of the New York and the ESPN theater it created going in. The stage was set for a true Grand Slam for Serena Williams on the women’s side. Looking over to the men’s side of the draw two favorites loomed large as they always do Djokovic and Federer where on opposite sides of the bracket.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams has entered rarified air with many considering her the greatest women’s tennis player of all time. She was the #1 favorite for those betting on tennis. Going into the final he would be the underdog but with 17 titles in the bag he still had his fair share of supporters going in.
Novak Djokovic
This year has been about Novak Djokovic on the men’s side. Entering the 2015 US Open Djokovic was -1000 to make the semi-finals. He had six wins under his belt already this year including two Grand Slam wins. Djokovic ran into a true test in the Quarterfinals against #18 ranked Deliciano Lopez who took him 5 sets before he was able to win the match. After making short work of Marin Cilic in the semifinals the matchup was Djokovic vs. Federer as everyone predicated going in.
Men’s Final
Going into the final Djokovic was the favorite and throughout the final he left little reason to doubt. Djokovic wasn’t challenged and won over Roger Federer in 4 sets. His victory was his 3rd Grand Slam victory of the year. The world’s #1 remains.
Pennata and Vinci
For anyone that laid down bets on either Flavia Pennetta or Roberta Vinci to make the women’s finals you are smiling this week. The two long shots matched up in the Grand Slam Final. While it was a weekend full of drama Flavia Pennetta was in control most of the match and took it in three sets to win the 2015 US Open.
The men and women were on the opposite sides of the spectrum for US Open Tennis betting with the unpredictability of the women to the dominance at the top of them men.
