MLB All Star Game Breakdown

It’s time for another All-Star Game and this year the team with the best record so far is the St Louis Cardinals. Also look out for the Dodgers and Royals who are both in first place. The biggest snubs of the year are Alex Rodriguez from the Yankees, Maikel Franco from the Phillies, and Kolten Wong from St Louis. One of the biggest surprises this year is DJ LeMahieu from the Rockies.

The All Star game will take place on a summer Tuesday in the great exciting city of Cincinnati. This is a fun city to explore with many excellent sports bars and places to see. The National league has plenty of ace pitchers including Clayton Kershaw from the Dodgers and Johnny Cueto from the hometown Reds. The strong outfield of the NL will include Cardinal Matt Holiday. The short stop position will also be played by a Cardinal named Johnny Peralta.

The American league All Star team is made up of several players from the Royals including Salvador Perez at catcher, Alcides Escobar at short stop, Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon in the outfield, and two starting pitchers named Wade Davis and Kelvin Herrern.

Aside from the betting on baseball action, there are also All Star summer events going on every day leading up to the All Star game. The fun starts on Friday July 10th with the fan fest. The next day on Saturday there is a running event during the day and a music concert during the evening. Sunday is full of block parties and a celebrity softball event.

On Monday the 13th the final event is the home run derby where players compete for who can hit the most home runs. This is always the most thrilling event leading up to All Star Game day. For those looking to get in on the MLB betting, this year the home run derby will include brackets and timed rounds. This will be a new format that has not been done in previous years.

The Royals will be leading the way with the most All Star votes in team history. The last Royal that became an All Star was fifteen years ago. The winner of the Ted Williams MVP award will be selected by the fans voting. Aside from Matt Holiday many other All Stars this year do not have much experience playing in the midsummer classic.

Bryce Harper, an outfielder for the Washington National, is getting a lot of attention for having the most All Star votes out of any individual this season. It is also big news that Harper decided to skip the home run derby this year. Harper has already hit 25 home runs this season.

This year Demi Lovato is headlining the All Star Game concert. Since the ballot numbers for voting this year were expected to be so high, this year was the first time the voting was all done online. It’s mostly new names and new faces this years at the All Star Game but the game of baseball and the fun and excitement of watching America’s favorite pastime remains the same.
