Better Rules Imposed in the 2015-2016 Hockey League

The 2015-2016 Hockey League will experience some changes in the overtime rules. The National Hockey League Board of Governors amended the rules. The overtime format changed to 3-on-3 for a span of five minutes. The new regulations will enhance expansion of video review and impose a challenge to the coach for a short time and make a fast and crucial decision.

The National Hockey League Board solved the proposed recommendations received from both National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association committee and General Managers. The minimal difference between NHA Hockey and NHLPA Hockey is the license acquired by NHLPA Hockey from the NHLPA. Meeting of the board members happened in Las Vegas, USA.

The Expanded video reviews rule

The expanded video review will enable the official to make right decisions when supervising the game. The original call on the ice will only get overturned if the on-ice officials consult the video room officials and a determination is made that the initial call on the ice was wrong. If a decision is not made, the original call will be confirmed by the on-ice official.

The 3-on-3 overtime rule

The 3-on-3 overtime rule will effectively instruct the on-ice officials the maximum amount of minutes that a game can get. The NHL Board of Governors indicated that five minutes should the maximum time added. The game will be taking a valuable perspective, where the first scoring team will be awarded an additional point and declared a winner. Betting on hockey will now be embraced by many fans due to the changing and clarity of the rules of the game.

For the added five minutes, each team will have three skaters and the goaltender. That is why it is called the 3-on-3 overtime rule.

A minor assessed penalty will result to the teams playing four on three whereas a second minor penalty assessed during overtime to the same will lead to a five on three play.

A persistent outcome after the overtime period will attract three-round shootouts. Each team will take three shots in the shootouts session. A consistent result will lead to every team taking a shot. The scoring team emerges as the winner.

A team pulling their goaltender as an extra attacker will earn them one point at the end of the regulation.

Reviews of leagues

In the playoffs and regular sessions, Officials who conduct Hockey Operations will review the scenarios that can result in a Coach’s Challenge.

Hockey operations will be held responsible for reviewing of all goals, subject to Rule 38.4 of the video review. Interference on the Goalkeeper and off-side will result in a Coach’s Challenge. The Hockey Operations will call it a goal. The play will then be subjected to further review using a Coach’s Challenge. A team that requests unnecessary Coach’s Challenge will lead the challenge being and timeout preserved.

The Coach’s Challenge rule

A team will only ask a Coach’s Challenge to seek Interference on the Goalkeeper, an off-side, if the time-out is available and in a no goal match.

The Off-Side Infraction rule

The Board of Governors agreed that goals will only get reviewed if a potential Off-Side Infraction happened.

In Conclusion, fans who have been betting on hockey are now relieved after the changing of the rules. Betting on this game will provide transparency to the fans, specifically the video review rule.
